The age of Linux hasn’t come yet, but Ubuntu has cracked what no other Linux distribution has managed to crack… Market share. Small, but not insignificant.

With the increased diversity of operating systems and devices, technology is becoming so prolific that users are becoming more adaptable to change.

Users no longer expect a device to be the same old thing they’ve used for years, they expect something new, different and exciting.

Users now look forward to change. They anticipate change with drool foaming from their mouths.

Do people get iOS, Android, Blackberry, Windows, Linux? Who cares. It doesn’t matter anymore.

New Mousailink Music Website for all Bands

When you’re cramming for exams, it helps to put on some good music. Mousailink.com is a brand new music news website that can help you discover some great new artists. The site is for all music genres and all bands, not just major labeled bands.

On Monday November 3rd, Mousailink will be releasing their brand new cheapest concert ticket finding tool (similar to travelocity.com but for concert tickets) and their new band pages as well as user pages.

On December 15, Mousailink will also be releasing an iphone and android app that both offer push notifications to all “Linked” bands for that user, all of this is for free.

Mousai is the greek goddess of music. The site was started by 2 navy veterans who are now business majors in college (Lincoln Marti and Jay Williams) and a Police officer/entrepreneur (Johnathan Crego) who all have a big background in music and media. Can I run my Android Games on OUYA?

Any games that run on Android will work on the OUYA Gaming Console.

OUYA runs it’s own modified version of Android because OUYA is designed to run on your television rather than a small touch-screen device. However, at the end of the day, OUYA is running Android and therefore any software that can run on Android will work on OUYA.

In fact, that’s the point.

OUYA might be a totally new gaming console, but it already has a huge library of software ready to run on it. You can transfer any Android software to your OUYA using the USB port.

Here’s the catch.

The OUYA uses a OUYA Wireless Bluetooth Controller whereas most existing Android games are designed for touchscreen. In order to port games to OUYA to be included in the OUYA marketplace, developers need to add support for the controller.

So yes, anything that runs on Android will run on OUYA, but porting something to OUYA to ensure a good user experience requires adding support for the controller. The controller does have a touchpad, but that’s not exactly the same thing.

OUYA is Worth 99$ as a Living Room Solution to XBMC

The OUYA is the first totally open video game console. All games are free to try, you own your OUYA without any restrictions on the device or the games. You’re even encouraged to take apart OUYA, hack it, and do anything creative you can think of with it.

… but that’s not why I’m going to buy OUYA.

I’m going to buy OUYA for one main reason – I’m getting OUYA strickly for XBMC.

All the other stuff OUYA can do is a bonus and I will definitely tinker with the SDK… But, for $99, there is no cheaper device on the market that can play 1080p HD videos smoothly in XBMC.

Raspberry PI is the only other device that could challenge the OUYA in this area, but Raspberry PI is not as powerful as OUYA and does not yet run XBMC smoothly.

OUYA has always sounded like an interesting project, but I wasn’t sold on the idea of playing Android games on my television. Android games on my TV might be fun once in a while, but it sounds more like something that will gather dust after the novelty wears off.

What has me convinced to purchase OUYA is definitely XBMC.

Watching movies and television is something I do all the time. I don’t pay for cable TV, I stream from the internet using Netflix or Hulu. When I want to watch on the television, I need to plug my laptop into the TV. It works, but it’s not the most convenient solution and it’s not using HDMI.

Once I get OUYA, I’ll have a tiny little box dedicated to playing all my media in 1080p HD.

If you’ve never tried XBMC, you should. XBMC is the best media center solution in existence. The only reason I’m buying OUYA is because it’s the cheapest way to bring XBMC to my TV.

… and if I do get bored, well I guess all those free-to-try games will be there 🙂
